Orchids have long been considered mysterious, and the lives of West Virginia’s orchids are no exception. Many are pollinated by bees and butterflies, but one is pollinated by mosquitoes, and some are pollinated through deceit. Two orchids are winter-green and flower without leaves, and all our orchids mysteriously appear and disappear over the years. How is that possible?
